How It Works

An automated tracking system, using bar codes and scanners, will accurately track your product from harvest to shipment. Precision Traceability Systems will adapt our system to your existing production and distribution systems to allow you to meet your regulatory and industry guidelines while minimizing any impact to your operation.

Field
Field, crew and fruit variety information is entered into the PTS system before packing begins.

2D Bar Code
Pre-printed 2D labels are applied to each clam shell package during the packing process while labeling.

Purchase Order
Each label at the end of the packing process is scanned and the data is stored in local databases.

GTIN Labels
Box GTIN labels, Skid tags and Purchase order information may be added if needed

How We Do It

Automated Systems

The key to traceability is an automated electronic tracking and record keeping system. Using bar codes and scanners allows you to instantly and accurately track your product from harvest to shipment . Automated traceability systems allow you to meet your regulatory guidelines, make your operation more efficient and help control costs. Precision Traceability Systems will adapt our system to your existing production and distribution systems to allow you to meet your regulatory and industry guidelines while minimizing any impact to your operation.

Data Acquisition

The PTS data acquisition system is designed to provide the grower with information in a timely and organized manner to allow for both current and future product traceability requirements. The system is based on popular Microsoft SQL and Access database systems. The user interface is designed to allow the grower to easily input daily field information. Field and variety information is fully customized and can be changed as needed to allow for future needs. Tracking a package, batch or PO is all done from the Barcode Links main menu

Item Level Traceability

Barcoding is a cost effective way of implementing traceability at the unit and case levels. Data in a barcode can be used as a pointer to information stored in a database and is correlated with production data such as field location, variety and pack date.

Using 2D bar codes pre printed on packaging allows you to accurately track and monitor the processing, storage and shipment of your fresh produce.

PTI Compliance

Growers, packers and shippers must label each case with a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) and lot number. To manage this the use of an electronic, automated traceability system is a must. PTI compliance guidelines require a traceability system in place that can track products at the case level from harvest through customer shipment.

The GTIN is a globally unique 14 digit number used to identify items, products or services.
